The set is made up of several aereal views of the town and some views focused on Church of S. Antonino Martire, views of Piazza Marconi and Corso Matteotti, Church of Madonna del Carmine, Oratorio di San Pietro and Villa Arienti Schiatti Giglioli.
All the internal photos are from Francesco Sprocatti, ex Major of Salara and great photographer.
Once ready all the postcards will be on sale by Pianeta Proibito in Ficarolo.

There’s also another feature I’d like to write about: it’s a WordPress plugin called Openitaly4WP, developed by Michele “O-Zone” Pinassi (from Siena Linux User Group); it is a great resource for tourism, either for singles and for community. It is a completely free plugin really easy to install: download it from WordPress Plugin Directory, put in the Plugin folder, then activate it from the Plugin Panel. Go to configuration options and you’re done!
For a live demo check out Michele’s blog or have a look here down.

I truly like this resource, useful to spot on those beautiful places we all are happy to suggest to friends, also I believe it is useful for owners who whish to have some more advertisements.
Have a look at the OpenItaly Community, signing up is free and the search service is quite easy and powerful. Are you looking for a great retaurant in Florence? Maybe the one your friends did told you about.. Searching for Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco maybe?
Here you are! Complete with directions on how to get there (via Google Maps), phone number, a brief description and the capability to leave a comment and a small review (mine is 100% positive, know it!) together with typical delicacies.
There is also a range of related places you can surf on.
At the moment OpenItaly is focused only on Italy (naturally) but I’m asking Michele if he’s in the mood for an extension even to Canton Tessin:
..is there any chanche you’re gonna open this service even for Canton Tessin?
Actually I didn’t think about opening the service for abroad people, here included italian-speaking countries. Let’s say, at the moment, there’s no intention.
How came the idea of OpenItaly?
Right after the italia.it big mess together with its 60 milions of Euro spent for the website build up, I thought the winning solution could be a community totally dedicated to touristic resources of our Country, where people can speak and tell. A great quality portal with great quality contents, all for free.
And what about OpenItaly4WP plugin?
That plugin has been developed following the necessity, moreover the opportunity, to have a “piece of Italy” directly in people’s blogs. Spreading all OpenItaly services is fundamental to make it grow in quality and contents!
Who turns on for OpenItaly?
Everyone: italians and foreigners, simple users and managers, casualty tourists and tourist professionals! Anyone can contribute.
How long did it take to work on it?
Portals like this are never at the end: there’s always something to adjust, new ideas to put in act or pages to improve. It has born two years ago and it’s still in development..
Tools of the trade: platform, software..
Absolutely all free software: Linux, Apache, MySql, PHP and a great injection of fantasy and program skills and lotsa time! The big advantage of building it from scratch is a better control over processes, quick modifications and a more wide flexibility for further integrations.
So why a free community and a free plugin?
‘Cause free is better! A Tourism Community cannot notwithstanding by economic interests or kinda sponsors. Comments and opinions must be, as much as possible, offish and impartial; otherwise this community won’t have any sense, right? Users trust’s not for sale!
Are there any projects for OpenItaly and OpenItaly4WP?
Well, next goals are a better integration, easy and intuitive interfaces and new services, even in collaboration with other portals. It’d be a success to involve a partnership with Local Tourism Agencies to offer a more efficient service.
Any iPhone application based?
At the moment there’s the BlackBerry version, developed by DataFox (in Prato, Italy). It was, and still it is, a great and profitable experience.
Btw, if someone is interested in developing the application, all the XML-RPC documentation is available.
Talking about graphic: OpenItaly colour palette is positive and shiny, how did you choose?
Simply my personal taste, with an eye on the colors which distinguish our Country. I’m not an expert graphic and think the result is quite improvable :)
Last question: are you gonna put your items into big business and get rich like Jobs?
Already had put on commercials some advertising services for firms, experimentally. My intention is not to let OpenItaly become a bin for spots and bad advertisements; I think Companies should have the opportunity to let people know about their offers and services. And I don’t think to get tich!
Just in case.. remember your pals =)
Ok!
