./lsd, acronym of Liquid Sky Design, is an individual business located in Tessin, Switzerland @ 45° 52′ 0″ / 8° 58′ 59″.

This studio saw its first ray of light in far 1997, when I created my first internet page; actually was just a mere dream.
It was a painful, horrorific tragedy: a miscellanea of heavy animated gifs, different backgrounds for every single page and too many colors.. much more than Homer Simpson/Mr. X web page =)
Lucky me I don’t have any image of that “Viper’s Lair” (neither on Wayback Machine is there any trace); I think I’d disown that. First hosted on Xoom, then on Virgilio; then quitted because of a big lack of time.

Had some mind rest and listened to all my fave music, starting from Puccini’s Madama Butterfly to Slipknot and Allevi and Einaudi and Hancock and Davis and more and more and more..

All that music was inspiring! Later came the early idea of virg0.org (previously virgo.com) but I needed some place to place as a showcase of the things I was building. I discovered I was pretty good in making website, especially when there was so disambiguation in what was the meaning of a website and what was the look&feel.

Liquid Sky Design was only a thought and took me so long to find a graphic suite and.. a logo!

And why a WordPress installation?
Because it’s more handy and “safe” for me: everytime I was designing something for ./lsd I was quite happy and hentusiastic.. then surfing on the net for some inspiration I always found something better and redraw from start. This happened about ten times, and you can imagine how hard it is to do all new.
I don’t say down for CSS or something but I find myself more confortable with this kinda blog where I can also post my thoughts and the things I find interesting.

Interesting like cherry blossom trees, a trip by train and so many other things.. all those, mixed together gave me a primitive idea of what kind design I’d like to develop.

Designed thousands, drawed hundreds.. and finally had an inspiration which solved every trouble (yet you can see that on top of the page).

Most of my tools of the trade are open source programs (Inkscape, Paint.NET, Pencil, Art of Illusion, Wings3D, POV-Ray, Archimedes, blender, CinePaint, Pixie, Cornice, Synfig – sorry, GIMP is kind of hellish and has not all the complete feats that I require for my works) while the rest is made up of Poser7, Mental Ray, CS4, MudBox).

Lo studio ha visto la luce, per la prima volta, nel lontano 1997 quando creai la mia prima pagina internet.
Fu una tragedia senza precedenti: una miscellanea di gif animate pesantissime, ogni pagina aveva il suo sfondo di colore differente, e un sacco di colori messi qua e la’ a casaccio.. peggio della pagina di Homer Simpson/Mr. X =)
Fortuna vuole che non abbia conservato alcuna immagine o backup di quella schifezza chiamata “Viper’s Lair” (nemmeno su Wayback Machine si trovano tracce); la disconosco, assolutamente =) All’inizio era in hosting presso Xoom, poi passai a Virgilio; infine chiusi tutto a causa di una grave mancanza di tempo.

Ho lasciato che la mente si riposasse, mi sono dedicata all’ascolto della musica che preferisco, dalla Madama Butterfly di Puccini agli Slipknot, da Giovanni Allevi a Ludovico Einaudi passando per Miles Davis e Herbie Hancock.. e tanti altri ancora..

Tutta quella musica fu quasi d’ispirazione! Mi venne l’idea di mettere online una sorta di prototipo di sito internet, virg0.org (il dominio precedente era virgo.com) ma avevo bisogno di qualcosa di piu’, di una vetrina dove mettere le cose che stavo costuendo. Ho scoperto di essere abbastanza brava nel creare i siti internet, soprattutto se non vi era quel gap tra il significato e l’aspetto di un determinato sito.

Liquid Sky Design ce l’avevo nella testa ma era difficile trovare un aspetto esteriore che mi soddisfacesse totalmente, soprattutto non avevo ancora un logo.

E perche’ WordPress?
Perche’ e’ molto piu’ maneggevole e “sicuro” per me: ogni volta che mi trovavo a disegnare un layout per ./lsd ero felice e contenta.. poi mi trovavo difronte a qualche sito che mi ispirava e ricominciavo a riscrivere il codice da capo. E’ successo almeno dieci volte, ed era una faticaccia rifare tutto daccapo.
Non sono contro i CSS, non me li sono inimicati, ma mi sento molto piu’ a mio agio con una sorta di blog, dove posso anche postare i miei pensieri ed i progetti, o semplicemente le cose che mi interessano.

Cose interessanti come gli alberi di ciliegio, un viaggio in treno e molte altre cose.. tutte queste, mescolate insieme, mi hanno regalato una primordiale idea di quale tipologia di design avrei sviluppato.

Ne ho pensati cento e disegnati mille, di layout.. e finalmente l’ispirazione mi ha fulminata =)

La maggior parte dei programmi che utilizzo sono a codice aperto (Inkscape, Paint.NET, Pencil, Art of Illusion, Wings3D, POV-Ray, Archimedes, blender, CinePaint, Pixie, Cornice, Synfig – e, no, mi dispiace, GIMP e’ qualcosa di veramente ostico e non ha tutte le caratteristiche che mi servono per lavorare alla mia maniera) mentre il resto e’ qualcosa di un pochettino piu’ costoso: Poser7, Mental Ray, CS4, MudBox).
